In 2013 the interior contract award was created by the textile company Zimmer + Rohde with the goal of recognising projects that exemplify an innovative and captivating use of textiles in interiors. This year, the prize is being awarded for the second time, in cooperation with AIT.

In a two-phase nomination process, a neutral, independent jury will award the creative work of architects, interior designers and designers in planning and outfitting new or refurbished properties using textiles.

Competition procedure

Since the interior contract award 2015 is a nomination-based competition, it has two stages. In the first stage of the competition, the ten-person nominating jury, made up of architects, interior designers and designers, will nominate around 100 projects that have convincing overall textile design concepts. In the second stage, the seven-person jury will select this year’s award winner from among the submitted projects in a jury session. The closed jury session will take place on 21 August 2015 in Oberursel. The jury’s decision is final and there is no right of legal recourse.

The nominating jury

The nominating jury is given the task of recommending prizeworthy projects that can be categorised into one of the following topics:

• Living Areas
• Hotel Interiors
• Lifestyle Venues
• Healing Grounds
• Maritime Spaces
• Experimental Ideas
• Temporary Spaces
• Working Environments

Awarding jury

The awarding jury selects the prize-winner based on the following criteria:

• Composition (interplay between textiles and other materials)
• Atmosphere (creating atmosphere with textiles)
• Overall concept (integration of textiles into the overall concept)

The prize-winners of the interior contract award 2015 will receive an award certificate. Moreover, the competition will be presented to the public as part of an exhibition as well as published in book form. All projects in the competition, as well as the members of the nominating and awarding jury, will be included in this publication.
